Hi Folks,

We would like to thank you all for the wonderful Summer season we had this year and are happy to announce we are open for all weekends in September and the first weekend in October, the times are listed below and tickets are already on sale.

Weekend Times:
Saturday 1st session 10:30am to 1:30pm and 2nd session 2pm to 5pm.
Sunday 1st session 10:30am to 1:30pm and 2nd session 2pm to 5pm.

Terms and Conditions:
• Pre Booking Only (Tickets are now on sale, click the red book now button or scroll further down this page to see the options!)
• Please arrive at the specific day and time of your booking with a copy of your booking confirmation and ticket, these can be on your phone or printed out.
• Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
• Please comply with all directions from our staff and signage.
• Takeaway teas, coffees, snacks, soft drinks and ice creams are available from our coffee shop.
• Visitors should note that our blue barrel and horse and carriage rides are available at a limited capacity per spin.
• To keep everyone safe, we cannot facilitate cuddling with the animals at this time
• We cannot facilitate amendments to booking dates/times.

Red Mountain Open Farm got its name from the Red Mountain, which is the hill between the Farm and Donore Village. It is believed by some researchers that the colour of the sunrise on the morning of the Winter Solstice was the original inspiration for the name of the hill over which that sunrise occurs when viewed from Newgrange. The hill is called Red Mountain.

Located just five minutes from the Newgrange Monument the Open Farm boasts the most extensive indoor facilities of all open farms in Ireland. We believe these indoor facilities are important given the unpredictable nature of our Irish weather. Easter

Our Easter Event @ Red Mountain Open Farm will run from:

Saturday 4th of April to Sunday 19th of April daily 11am to 5pm including Bank Holiday Monday, Sundays 1pm to 5pm.

CLOSED MONDAY 6TH OF APRIL

With plenty of activities in our large open barns so regardless of the weather, you’re guaranteed to have a good time!

Participate in our annual Easter Treasure Hunt! This Treasure Hunt is exclusively on Saturday the 11th of April, Sunday the 12th of April and Monday the 13th of April. The Treasure hunt runs all day and every child gets a prize!

  • See our day old chicks.
  • Cuddle the rabbits.
  • Visit our farmyard friends.
  • Play in our indoor/outdoor play areas.
  • Play in our sandpits.
  • Drive our toy tractors.
  • All for €8 per child and €8 per adult.
  • Families of 4 or more people is €7 per person.

School Tours

Here at Red Mountain Open Farm we offer schools a fun learning experience. Our exceptional facilities ensure that pupils will learn much about our animals, our farm and the country side.

A typical visit to Red Mountain Open Farm includes the following:

  • On arrival you will be greeted by your guide.
  • Meet your farm yard friends, the Pigs, Donkey, Goats, Lambs, Rabbits, Geese, Hens Chickens, Turkeys and others.

      Take the M1 north and exit at junction 9. Follow the signs for Newgrange Monument through the village of Donore. After the Newgrange Monument take the first left turn (at the railings on the right), and then take the first right.
    • From Dundalk:
      Take the M1 south and exit at junction 9. Follow the signs for Newgrange Monument through the village of Donore. After the Newgrange Monument take the first left turn (at the railings on the right), and then take the first right.
    • From Dublin, Navan, Slane via the N2:
      Follow the signs for Newgrange Monument (2 km south of Slane). Take the fourth turn to the right opposite railings on the left, then take the first right.
    • From Drogheda:
      Take the Donore Road into the village of Donore and follow signs for Newgrange Monument. After the Newgrange Monument take the first left turn (at the railings on the right) and then take the first right.

    Unfortunately we will be unable to go ahead with our Christmas Experience Event for 2021 as we feel we are unable to provide a safe venue for our customers that is in line with Covid 19 Regulations, We hope to see you all in 2022 for the start of our next Summer Season!
